Everyone deserves a second chance, but we all know that it's hard to break free from the stigmatisation of a criminal record - with or without the added problems of substance misuse or mental health concerns.
Welcome to Jigsaw, the group that aims to bring service users together from across North Wales and beyond,largely irrespective of previous criminal behaviour or background. The group is open to family members and anyone interested in supporting Jigsaw aims and objectives as well as service users themselves and, subject to certain limited exceptions, does not concern itself with the nature of any offences that have been committed. What’s just as important is that this group is service user led, so that the scope, nature and progress of our agenda is dictated by the members, and not by outside organisations.
The first part of the Jigsaw experience is based on offering opportunities for service users to meet together on a regular basis – to talk about issues that affect their lives and/or offer help and guidance by tapping into the wealth of experiences that service users have to offer.
The second element is related to engagement with the Probation Service, because without that contact there won’t be any opportunities to change anything.
Thirdly, we have added value – providing real focus in people’s lives through work opportunities, volunteering, courses, and worthwhile recreational pursuits - all provided free or at minimal cost.
