Prison Bus
Jigsaw recognises the importance of keeping families together in troubled times, and our North Wales Families’ Prison Bus Service provides family and friends of offenders serving custodial sentences at Altcourse with enhanced opportunities to undertake visits.
Services can operate from Bangor on the last Monday of each month, as well as from Llandudno via Colwyn Bay and Rhyl on the first Monday monthly, but are subject to having a minimum of 3 adult passengers for each journey.
The individual return fare should be no more than £25, but there is normally no charge for anyone on benefits using the Assisted Prison Visit (APV) scheme. So, relax, take the children and enjoy a single straight through return journey, all geared to making it easier for those from North Wales to visit their loved ones.
Subject to the minimum passenger numbers explained above, an additional journey may operate on the second Thursday of each month for VP wing visitors
The arrangements have been agreed with HMP Altcourse, and involve Jigsaw working with PSS, CAIS and Arc Communities to deliver the service. We are also currently considering the potential for arranging visits to HMP Styal.
